Certification in Disability Supports and Advocacy, Bergen Community College Turning Point Program

Rachel began working at ICI in 2023 as an Advocacy Advisor. In this role, Rachel works with staff to write materials in plain language, supports grant writing, advises staff on how to better include people with disabilities in their project activities, and assists in training new board members for ICI projects. Before joining ICI, Rachel developed a disability advocacy presentation, which shared her experiences of living with a disability with the community. This presentation allowed Rachel to use her own voice to speak up for herself and others in her community and to be proud of her own capabilities.
